2017-2018 OFFICERS

Kay Snelling, President
Kay was born in Pennsylvania; however, moved to Delaware before following her sister to Florida four years ago. She has been married, has one daughter, a step-daughter, four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She also has a stepdaughter who has a baby. Kay worked three careers in her lifetime, the first was on the manufacturing line for Pepperidge Farms, the second was starting as a receptionist, working her way through purchasing, into sales and up the ladder to become President of Wholesale Electronics. After the business was sold by the owner, Kay chose to start her own business, Gecko Fashions. She had a wonderful run of 8 years before the economy and a new location forced Kay to retire. Kay is a marketing representative for the wellness company, Melaleuca.

Kay moved to Pembroke Pines in 2014 to help her sister. Kay joined Coral Springs. Three years ago, Kay was elected as Vice President of the chapter. Last year Kay was the Newsletter Chair as well as the co-chair of the Membership Committee. Kay enjoys calling our guests and members, so you may speak to Kay if you are running late for registering for a meeting. Kay was the Chair of ABWA Tri-County Council 2016-2017 and is the current Chair. She is also the 2018 Women of the Year.

Dottie Sillano, Vice President
The American Business Women’s Association named Dorothy Sillano from Coral Springs, Fla., one of the Top Ten Business Women of the Year. The Top Ten Business Women of ABWA is a national program that honors 10 outstanding members for achieving excellence in career, education and community involvement.
A native of Queens, New York, Dottie moved to South Florida in 1978 to enjoy the beautiful beaches and weather. Taking the slow road to a degree, Dottie attended Florida Atlantic University in the evening while working full-time. She graduated in 1990 with a BA in Accounting and 14 years later went back to school and obtained her MBA from Keller University. Dottie is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked in many industries from banking to sports and now insurance all the while maintaining a private base of clients.

Dottie joined ABWA in January, 2013 during attendance at her first meeting. She knew this was an organization that she wanted to be part of. Dottie loved the energy in the room and wanted to know more. Within months, she became co-chair of the Membership Committee, a position she held for the years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, was then elected to chapter Secretary for the 2015-2016 fiscal year and is now serving as co-chair of the Education Committee. Dottie attended the National Women’s Leadership Conference during her first year of membership, 2013 and each year thereafter. She has also attended the Regional Conference in Safety Harbor, FL. In 2015.

Being named one of the 2017 Top Ten Women of ABWA is quite a humbling journey for Dottie. She is passionate in all that she does personally, professionally and charitably and is elated to represent this astounding organization. Dottie appreciates all of her ABWA sister’s near and far and most especially this year as they surrounded her with love and support when her husband passed away. With much encouragement, Dottie completed the Top Ten application process and knows that it is only with the support of her sisters that this DREAM has been IGNITED and is enjoying every minute of the journey.

"Top Ten candidates are a paradigm for ABWA members who strive for excellence in their careers, their communities, and in the Association," says René Street, ABWA Executive Director. "It will be a privilege to recognize these outstanding women this year at the National Women’s Leadership Conference and to gain inspiration from their accomplishments."
