2017-2018 OFFICERS

Judy Rubin, President
A native of Philadelphia, Judy graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Nursing, and then began her clinical career in the areas of Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum and Nursery. She moved to Houston, Texas in 1979 and began a long and successful sales career with industry leaders such as Caremark and 3M Pharmaceuticals where she continued pursuing her interests in Women’s Health and Dermatology.

Numerous awards and promotions allowed her to relocate to Coral Springs, Florida where she spent many years traveling the state, working with the Florida medical schools, VA Hospitals, and Military bases. She currently works as a Clinical Nurse Manager for Medical Staffing Network.

After joining ABWA in 2012, Judy served as Co Chair for the 10th anniversary of Ladies Night Out - the most financially successful fundraising event in the history of the chapter. She repeated the Co-Chairmanship the following year when the venue was changed to Ladies Who Brunch.  She was honored to be the second recipient of the chapter’s Superstar Award in 2015 and has assumed many other roles in the Chapter.

Dottie Sillano, Vice President
The American Business Women’s Association named Dorothy Sillano from Coral Springs, Fla., one of the Top Ten Business Women of the Year. The Top Ten Business Women of ABWA is a national program that honors 10 outstanding members for achieving excellence in career, education and community involvement.
A native of Queens, New York, Dottie moved to South Florida in 1978 to enjoy the beautiful beaches and weather. Taking the slow road to a degree, Dottie attended Florida Atlantic University in the evening while working full-time. She graduated in 1990 with a BA in Accounting and 14 years later went back to school and obtained her MBA from Keller University. Dottie is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked in many industries from banking to sports and now insurance all the while maintaining a private base of clients.

Dottie joined ABWA in January, 2013 during attendance at her first meeting. She knew this was an organization that she wanted to be part of. Dottie loved the energy in the room and wanted to know more. Within months, she became co-chair of the Membership Committee, a position she held for the years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, was then elected to chapter Secretary for the 2015-2016 fiscal year and is now serving as co-chair of the Education Committee. Dottie attended the National Women’s Leadership Conference during her first year of membership, 2013 and each year thereafter. She has also attended the Regional Conference in Safety Harbor, FL. In 2015.

Being named one of the 2017 Top Ten Women of ABWA is quite a humbling journey for Dottie. She is passionate in all that she does personally, professionally and charitably and is elated to represent this astounding organization. Dottie appreciates all of her ABWA sister’s near and far and most especially this year as they surrounded her with love and support when her husband passed away. With much encouragement, Dottie completed the Top Ten application process and knows that it is only with the support of her sisters that this DREAM has been IGNITED and is enjoying every minute of the journey.

"Top Ten candidates are a paradigm for ABWA members who strive for excellence in their careers, their communities, and in the Association," says René Street, ABWA Executive Director. "It will be a privilege to recognize these outstanding women this year at the National Women’s Leadership Conference and to gain inspiration from their accomplishments."

Rahim Surani, Treasurer

Rahim was born in Pakistan, but raised in Dubai. He moved to the states when he was in his late teens and finished his schooling in Texas. Rahim started out in various areas of sales and worked his way up to owning different businesses. He first owned a small gas station in Texas and moved on from there to co-own a Blimpie & TCBY franchise located in Florida. After a couple years of co-owning the franchise, Rahim was offered a great opportunity to own a marketing firm, SMARZ & Associates, located in Louisiana. After several years of running the marketing firm in Louisiana, he wanted to move back to Florida, which led him to open his own marketing consulting business, Surben. Surben provides payment solutions for small to mid-size businesses. The following are achievement awards Rahim has received: Top Leader Award, Top Gun Award, Leadership Achievement Award, and Entrepreneurship Award.

Rahim is a member of different network groups, which is how he was introduced to ABWA. He is honored to be Treasurer of the ABWA and is committed to providing service and support for businesswomen in South Florida.
